About

My Name is Elisha Frazier and I am a potter, a wife and a mom of three boys and a Crossfit enthusiast located in Richmond, Indiana. I create functional pottery with an elegant simplistic form. I love to experiment with clay designs, textures and glaze combinations with a focus on the quality of each piece. All my work is food, microwave and dishwasher safe! Elmtree Pottery is a small family business and all work is hand made by me, however my husband and three boys help out when needed. The Elmtree Pottery Crew!

In depth…

My interest in making pottery started with an old one-speed pottery wheel my Dad bought at an auction and dirt/clay dug from the banks of the river behind my family home in Indiana. My first pottery class was at the age 14 and I fell in love with it. I loved being able to make something useful in any shape and color I wanted, it was freeing! I took several more classes, even a beginners pottery class from IUE at age 16(I was the youngest student to take classes at that time) and have been throwing on a wheel ever since then. This fascination with making pottery from a lump of clay developed into selling my work at art & craft shows in the late 1990’s to help financially with college.

In 2005, I married my college sweetheart and after the birth of our second child in 2010, I became a full time stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. Spending time at the wheel became a reality again with the trenching of 220V electric to my studio and I continue to enjoy the adventure of experimenting with the flexibility of clay and the exciting possibility of each glaze. Now with three active boys I have an everchanging schedule, thankfully time throwing pottery on the wheel is flexible! I also enjoy sharing my enthusiasm of pottery with students by teaching pottery classes at Ply Shop + Studio, in Richmond Indiana.

If you select one of these stoneware pieces, know that it started as a solitary lump of clay. Time and much practice have helped make the design you now hold and we hope you may have many years of enjoyment with it!
